Monastiraki to Thripti to Karvousi passing by Ha Gorge.
A long climb of 10 Kms before reaching the highest point before a steep descent of 5Kms down to Karvousi.
A Return car parked at Karvousi near the Church of Ag Georgios is required to bring walkers back to their cars parked at the start.
The walk is hard underfoot going through all types of terrain, Tarmac roads, concrete pathways, unstable shale, pathways through woods and old rock pathways.
Certainly not for the unfit.
Although the walk intercepts the A4 it does also go off that route and the pathways are not always marked, especially going up.
The walk takes you through the village of Thripti following the A4 almost all the way from there to Karvousi.

From car park head towards the village on the nice paved pathway.
Turn left and go up stairs where the Taverna's are
Pass by Taverna and keep left going up.
(Neat sign outside Taverna doorway).
When you get to the large unmade road turn right and follow for approx 2Kms
Head into village to the small triangular opening and keep left then right by the wall onto path through village and past the Taverna
Pass taverna and stay on pathway passing passing many buildings keep to the right at junction 300 metres further on
Turn right and go down staircase onto rough track that leads onto dirt track that goes up and follows E4 trail again
Keep to the left by the fence and keep left at the next turn off, we are back on the E4 trail and there is signage along the path
View before the descend finally starts.
Karvousi can be seen at the base of the valley view, along with the pathway that you will be following
Trail now descends from here on wards.
The path is mostly rocky single lane winding it's way down fairly steeply all the way to Karvousi

Steep and long 4Km walk down to finish
Pretty tough on your legs by now.
Soon to enter the stony / rocky bit that will be the main pathway to the end.
Enter a roadway and almost within a few meters turn right by the sign and follow the dirt track down, staying on this track as it crosses over several concrete roads
Intersect a concrete roadway and continue on until you see sign to your right taking you off the back onto the E4 with signage and red dots on stones.
Easy track to follow.
An Aquaduct system runs along the pathway which you pass over. You will see more of it as you continue down along with the usual black pipes.
Go straight across the road keeping to the trail

Turn left at end of path here then right again, signage is here and follow pathway again.
Turn off right again across the concrete road again pass a large water reservoir concrete tank to your right
The path widens out now as you enter Karvousi, continue going straight ahead through the village houses until you come to the large central church of Ag Georgios where hopefully you will have parked your commute car to transport the walkers back to their cars at Monastiraki
