Описание маршрута
Although this tour does not follow any of the classic Wiper Trails, it is almost entirely made up of sections of them.
From the car park "Kleine Wisper", we head up the steps into the woods, following the Wispertaunussteig trail. We follow the green signs for this trail for quite a while.
The first highlight is a beautiful group of rocks followed by the Geroldsteiner Fenster. From here, the view down to the village of Geroldstein is fantastic.
We then continue in the direction of the Dickschieder Fenster. This is a little further up and the view from here is phenomenal. The two benches set up here are also perfect for taking a break.
The route then continues past the Falkenhof farm with its many animals up to the Atzmannhütte Heidenrod, a real mountain hut as we know it from the Alps. The owners of the hut are super friendly and the view from up here over the adjacent fields is wonderfully calming.
From now on, the route heads downhill, first in the direction of Tanzplatz, then further into the forest and on to Geroldstein.
In winter, Geroldstein is probably in the shade all day long. In summer, however, it is certainly pleasantly cool in the narrow valley, which is traversed by the Wisper river.
Geroldstein has the remains of a small castle, but these are not accessible, at least in winter.
Further up the mountain there is another castle, the ruins of Haneck Castle, but here too, entry is denied because the castle is privately owned.
From here, we walk along the Wisper river back to the parking lot.
A very beautiful, relaxed hike through rustic and varied landscapes. Highly recommended, even in winter.
