This is the complete GPS-track of the East Highland Way. The EHW is easy to walk for the biggest part and mainly follows well maintained paths. The only place where you really have to find your own path is a part between Laggan and Newtonmore.

I corrected the GPS-track for the places where I went a bit of the normal route. In this way you've got a good guideline for your own trip, but don't forget to take your own alternatives where needed. For example to buy your food along the way.

I used 5 nights, but put up my tent too early on the first day. The second day mainly follows forestry tracks and is easy to follow, but the distance was a bit to much compared to the other days. That is why I added another waypoint as alternative for this night.

You can put up your tent on many places when wild camping, but be prepared for midges when camping at sheltered places. I pitched my tent at more windy spots to avoid the midges.

Day 1: Fort William - Spean Bridge: good paths, but not to much to see around you. The noise of the A86 is on the background.
Day 2: Spean Bridge - Loch Laggan: mostly forestry tracks. Longest day without villages in between.
Day 3: Loch Laggan - Laggan village: Nice views, nice lake and enough things to see
Day 4: Laggan village - Newtonmore: Great views, the real Highland feeling. Bit more route finding compared to the other days. To my opinion this is the best part of the track!
Day 5: Newtonmore - Loch An Ellein: Great walking, nice surroundings, easy to follow tracks. You can also stay at the bothy, but I liked to camp instead.
Day 6: Loch An Ellein - Aviemore: short distance, but beautiful nature!
