The reserve has three entrances: Belle Vue, Carob Tree and Pinewood. If you prefer walking down, the best place to start your hike is at the highest Belle Vue entrance and descend from there. Inside the reserve, there is the 12th-century St John’s rock-cut hermitage and chapel, located eight meters above the ground and composed of three cavities. Wear long trousers and proper hiking shoes and bring food and water, since there are no restaurants around. (From www.living-lebanon.com).
We did some of the available paths. The trails are mostly clear, moderately difficult at some parts but in general level is considered easy to medium. Wear long pants, a hat and have lot of water in hot summer season. Better to start very early and finish before noon. All trails can be done in 2 hours at a good pace.
