Spring Mountain Summit - From New Beith

Now this trail... I really enjoyed this one! My phone was getting low on battery so I only recorded the one direction - from the start point to the summit of Spring Mountain (325m high).

Start point - Spring Mountain Forest Park carpark on Thornbill Drive. Follow the main trail which is called Water Tower Track. This will take you on a great ridgeline track around a deep valley expanse. Some good views of Brisbane City through the tree tops along here, and there are several elevated hills and mounts to climb and explore (I'm unsure if they have any particular names), and though these are ok - they are nothing compared to the AMAZING views available to you from the summit of Spring Mountain.

There are several firetrails on this track, all of which allow vehicles to drive. However, there are numerous walking tracks that actually were quite fun to run/walk - and they will work your little cardio! There is an amazing little CAVE on the final approach (on the vehicle fire trail) about 300m before Spring Mountain. This was so cool to climb inside - it indeed is the perfect place to rest your weary head if you were so inclined.

At the final start point of the ascent to Spring Mountain, there is another cool and much larger CAVE on the southern side of the mountain. So clean inside (compared to other caves I have visited), just very dusty and sandy inside. The summit of Spring Mountain was just so rewarding - not difficult to ascend, very manageable. There is some sort of radio transmitter on top also.

Very cool views from the summit - not full 360 degrees because of trees growing on top of the rock, but not to worry, it was very easy to navigate all around the top of this rock to get view from all sides! Mount Flinders (Flinders Peak) and it's mountain ranges looked simply spectacular from this summit. Once I took in all the views I could digitally, physically and emotionally handle, I simply backtracked the way that I came.

Trail running this route took me around 1hr 15mins one way to the Summit peak, 5.5kms, and was a total trip of around 11kms all up. This track is very easy to navigate and follow as you make your way around the valley to Spring Mountain.

Loved it! When I have more time, I'll next do the same route but will continue on down past Spring Mountain to reach White Rock and return via some kind of alternate circuit route. I noticed there are many different trails to follow within Spring Mountain Forest Park. A couple of trail bike riders were heard in the distance also.
