A beautiful day in the snow. This trail is physically demanding and requires endurance due to its steep uphills, thus ski rendo (Backcountry) is a better option to mount up and ski down steep angles. Its a unique experience with a feeling of great accomplishment that comes afterward.
But after hard work comes a great reward. The sceneries during the whole trip are literally breathtaking and indescribable, especially when reaching the top. A 360 degree panorama: Zaarour, Kneisseh, Barouk, Mont Hermont, Bekaa valley, anti-Lebanon, Laklouk, Tannourine, Makmel, Akoura, Ehmej, Grande coulée, Baqish cedars, Mediterranean sea, etc...
Mount Sannine is known for its 7 crosses, i visited them all along with the true summit of this mountain, which is the highest peak with an altitude of 2628m, not 2615m as my GPS mentioned.
Between St. Marie cross and Chir Al Ahmar, where the true summit of Sannine, i had to take off my skis at some part of it.
On my way back, i was skiing down without checking my map. I was following my common sense to reach Jabal Dib chairlift. Couldn’t follow a certain road as snow was too thick and all the territory was covered equally in white. So my advice to u when u begin to turn back after Sainte Sophie cross, is that u should head west at first as much as u can until u reach the path which i used to mount up and after start venturing north towards Jabal dib summit. Cz apparently, and I noticed it in my prior trail, the more u merge to the west, the more flattened surface u’ll have and avoid the “grouffes” which makes the trail more difficult.
Pick ur day wisely to do a big loop as this in the snow. Sunny with no wind r perfect conditions to have a gd snow quality.
