Other phone GPS applications permit one to adjust the frequency with which the phone receives (and or records) the GPS signal. For example one can set such an app. to record one's position every 15 seconds up to every 15 minutes. Could this feature be introduced to the WIkiloc mobile app?

you are right!
but I think it is to reduce the storage area of device in other apps but in wikiloc it is not only very thin ( 5 second for one signal on 2019 before 18 second for one signal on 2010) but also using poor storage in your device. for testing this it is enough to zoom the map and see ( not see) the broken line of recorded rout.

for example in your recent track
" Ski with Sebas in Masella 8 "
it is 5 second for one point that is perfect!
